BSD High School Credit Recovery Summer Program 2015
Brandywine School District is again offering on-line credit recovery (make-up) courses for high school students who were unsuccessful in earning course credit during the regular school year.  The course offerings are for credit recovery only and cannot be taken for original credit.  Educere, a leading K-12 virtual education service, will be coordinating the program that includes courses correlated to the District’s course content and the Delaware standards.

Eligible students may take up to two courses for credit recovery. All students seeking admission to summer school courses must be pre-approved by the Principal or School Counselor of their home school. Please contact your school counseling office for any questions related to eligibility.

Course Length

Students can begin courses within five days after the students’ registration is processed. The coursework must be 100% completed, including a proctored final exam, on or before Friday, July 31st. As an online course, students will have the ability to work on course completion twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, wherever they have access to the internet.

Proctored Final Exams

All students will be required to schedule a final exam with Lynn Brown at 302-793-5010 to be taken on site at Brandywine High School sometime between Monday, July 20th and Friday, July 31st. The final exam will take approximately two hours and may be scheduled either at 8:00am-10:00am or 10:30am- 12:30pm. If a student completes a course earlier,  he or she may schedule an earlier date in which to take the exam. Students will be individually scheduled into proctored two-hour test sessions. Photo identification in the form of School ID, State Issued ID Card or a Driver’s License will be required to sit for the exam.

Each course is taught by virtual instructors certified in that content area.  Students will have access to the virtual instructor via online web meeting, chat and email within the course and/or toll-free phone number. An Educere Personal Learning Coach™ provides administrative support to the student throughout the virtual education experience. The Educere Personal Learning Coach™ is not a tutor.

Course Delivery and Monitoring of Student Progress

The courses made available through Educere are online and completely delivered through the internet and/or computer, creating an anytime, anywhere learning experience that allows greater accessibility and flexibility for students. All courses are self-paced, but students must complete them by July 31st, 2015, including the Proctored Final Exam.

To assist in monitoring student performance, pace and participation, parents will receive weekly emails and bi-weekly phone calls of student progress, grade average, and average progress versus actual progress.

*Students without access to a computer and/or the Internet are encouraged to contact Ms. Lynn Brown at 793-5010 for information regarding technology and internet accessibility in the community.
