On May 28, Lancashire Elementary School held its first Comic Con, an after-school engagement activity for students and parents to promote a love of reading and writing. Students were encouraged to dress as their favorite comic book or cartoon character. Activities included comic book trading, art stations where students could create their own comic book or superhero mask, a raffle, and the opportunity to purchase student-created comic books by donating $1 to the Purple Heart to support the school's charitable giving endeavors. The comic books sold were written and illustrated by students who have been participating in an after-school comic book club. Many thanks to Captain Blue Hen Comics in Newark for donating comic books and activities for the students.
