Talley Middle School welcomed Ayuen Ajok, a former Lost Boy of Sudan who detailed his experiences as one of more than 20,000 children who were displaced from their homes and separated from their families during the Sudanese Civil War. Talley 7th graders have just read the book "A Long Walk to Water," about the Sudanese children's 1,200 mile walk to Ethiopia and then to Kenya. Hearing a first-hand account of the story was a truly meaningful way to end the unit of study.
After years in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya, Mr. Ajok came to the USA in 2000. He graduated from Temple University and earned master's degrees from Arcadia University and Cornell University.
