DRESS CODE

The Brandywine School District understands that its students strive for excellence in all areas and that dress should not be a cause of distraction in our buildings.  With this in mind, the following conditions have been adopted for students attending Mount Pleasant High School.
  • All clothing must be neat, clean and in a condition of good repair.
  • No headwear may be worn in the building during the school day.  This includes, but is not limited to: hat, bandanna, scarf, earmuffs, sunglasses or any other head covering, including hoods. (Exception – documentation from a place of worship, male or female).
  • Clothing with suggestive or derogatory picture or phrases or advertising of alcohol, tobacco or drugs may not be worn.
  • Revealing clothing designed to be worn as undergarments may not be visible.
  • Shirts and blouses that leave the midriff bare are prohibited.
  • Shorts and skirts are to be of an acceptable length (must be no more than 4 inches from the top of the knee).
  • All shirts must have sleeves.
  • Any clothing depicting gang activities/association.
  • Any other garment or accessories that would be a distraction to the orderly educational process are prohibited.
  • Heavy, bulky jackets or overcoats as determined by the administration should be placed in lockers.
  • Pants must be neat and fit properly.  They may not touch the floor.  No frayed edges or visible holes are permitted.
  • Spandex, tights and leggings must be covered by an appropriate length article of clothing no more than 4 inches from the top of the knee.
  • No undergarments should be visible at any time.
  • All shorts, pants and skirts must be worn at the waist.  It is strongly recommended that belts be worn.
  • No pajama pants.
  • Spiked jewelry and chains are prohibited.

Students in violation of the dress code policy will receive disciplinary action and may be sent home to change or the parent may be contacted to provide a change of clothes.  Students will not be permitted to attend class while in violation of the dress code.

*Hats and any other type of headwear are to be removed upon entering the building and placed in lockers prior to 7:30 a.m.
