Sanctuary Pieces are a great way to assess a radio student's mastery of the Radio Broadcasting subject matter, and wrap up a school year with some real "feels". It's the end of the school year, and that can be loaded with it's own set of stressors and uncertainties for many teens. By focusing the core essay and the sound gathering on an identified "safe place", or a least a place to get some alone-time or peace and quiet, these Sanctuary Pieces might help kids self-advocate a little bit, and give all us radio listeners a clear glimpse of what it's like to be a 21st century teen standing on the edge of summer vacation. 2-4 minutes.
