Welcome to Second Grade at Claymont!

The Second Grade Tribe at Claymont Elementary School is all about becoming responsible for ourselves and for our learning! Fiction and nonfiction texts, including life cycles, biographies, and a multitude of mystery chapter books help the students build their fluency and comprehension skills. In Math, renaming in addition and subtraction, are the major concepts for the year with an introduction to multiplication! One particular favorite part of the curriculum in second grade is learning cursive writing. In and out of school experiences in second grade include the Philadelphia Zoo, Longwood Gardens, and trips to the Playhouse.
