Mrs. Calderon-Lacy

Mrs. Curi Calderon-Lacy was raised in the Borough of the Bronx in New York. After graduating from the University at Albany, in Albany New York she began her teaching career in New York City. Upon moving to Delaware she continued teaching for six years in the world language department at Mount Pleasant High School before beginning her career as an administrator as an assistant principal for the last six years. Mrs. Calderon-Lacy is proud to serve in the capacity of principal at Mount Pleasant High School where she can impact the lives of young people through education.

Mr. McCullough

Mr. McCullough was raised in Charleston, SC but spent most of his adolescence in Okinawa, Japan.  After graduating from Caesar Rodney High School, he attended Wilmington University receiving bachelor's degrees in Human Resource Management and a Business Education.  He then received his master's degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University. He began his teaching career in the Caesar Rodney School District where he taught Marketing, Core Business and Computer Applications.  He then became an Assistant Principal at Dover High School in the Capital School District.  

Mr. McCullough is in his second year with the Brandywine School District as an Assistant Principal at Mount Pleasant High School. He is excited to see every student grow daily, make connections with students and most importantly see every single student walk across that graduation stage.

Mr. Norton

Assistant Principal

Mr. Norton is a Wilmington native. After graduating from Glasgow High School he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management and Master’s degrees in Special Education and in School Leadership from Wilmington University. He began his career in education in the Red Clay School District, where he taught Jobs for Delaware Graduates, Economics, Civics, World History, History of Film, Contemporary Political Issues, Military History, and he was a Student Advisor.

Mr. Norton is in his fifth year with the Brandywine School District. He previously served as a Dean of Students and is excited to serve in the support and growth of all students at Mount Pleasant High School as an Assistant Principal.

Mrs. Filiou

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Evanthia Filiou was born in Upper Darby, PA, and spent most of her childhood in Springfield, PA. After graduating from high school, she attended St. Joseph's University and earned a BA in English, with a minor in secondary education. Her goal at the time was to become a college professor, and so she pursued her master's degree in English, with a concentration in creative writing, at West Chester University.

Mrs. Filiou's first teaching position was in a middle school. After a year, she transferred to the high school level until she became a secondary literacy specialist. She continued her studies by earning both a reading specialist's certificate, as well as her school leadership credential. She served as an assistant principal in the Lake Forest School District for seven years before joining Mount Pleasant High School.

Mr. Hines

Dean of Students

Mr. Hines was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He attended the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and earned an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration before transferring to Canisius College in Buffalo, NY and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.  He then returned to Pittsburgh to earn a Master’s in Education degree in School Counseling form the University of Pittsburgh.  His career experience has come through Pittsburgh Public Schools, the University of Pittsburgh, Temple University, and the Interboro School District prior to joining the Mount Pleasant family in 2021.  Mr. Hines is honored to transition from the role of School Counselor to Dean of Students and continue serving the students and families at Mount Pleasant High School.

Mrs. Calloway

Dean of Students

Nigdra Calloway was raised in Philadelphia where she received a Bachelor of Science in Urban Early Childhood Education and Development Pre-K-6th grade at Penn State University. Mrs. Calloway later moved to Delaware, where she started her career in education. Mrs. Calloway taught for many years before becoming Dean of Students in the Brandywine School District.

She recently graduated with her Masters in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University. Mrs. Calloway has shared with many that education is her purpose and while on her path she will continue to grow and guide students along the way.  She is BSD proud and honored to be Mount Pleasant Knight!

Mrs. Amudipe

Dean of Students

Mrs. Amudipe was born in Nigeria and emigrated to the United States at the age of 11. After graduating from the Bodine High School for International Affairs in Philadelphia, she earned a dual Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Studies from the American University in Washington, DC, and a Masters in Business Administration from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. She began her teaching career in Camden, New Jersey, then came to the Brandywine School District as a Business Education Teacher. 

Mrs. Amudipe is in her 20th year with the Brandywine School District, where she was named the 2023 District Teacher of the Year. She now serves as Dean of Students at Mount Pleasant High School and is thrilled to serve the students, staff, and community of the incredible Green Knights!
