What is a Schoolwide Title I Program?
Posted by:A Schoolwide Title I Plan offers special programs and services to address the needs of struggling students. Schools with 38% or more kids below the poverty level can develop a Schoolwide Title I Plan. Decisions made about education in these schools are based on research and testing data. High quality instruction, programs and intervention are provided at these schools. The plan is updated each year with input from building parents, teachers and administrators. All seven of Brandywine's Title I school buildings use a Schoolwide Plan.

What is a Targeted Assisted Title I Program?
Posted by:Testing data is used to identify struggling readers in need of extra help in reading. This Title I program offers extra help.

How are students selected?
Posted by:At the beginning of each school year students are tested to find out which will benefit most from Title I services. The school team looks at testing data and grade level goals to determine the type of help the student needs.

When and where does instruction take place?
Posted by:Title I students receive in-class help or small group instruction. A reading specialist or paraprofessional works with the child during the regular school day.

What are reading interventions?
Posted by:Reading interventions are programs and methods designed to help struggling readers. The goal of an intervention is to help kids read better so that they can master their skills better. These are provided in addition to regular reading programs.

What is Title I Night?
Posted by:Title I Night is an evening program held each year for Title I families. Every Title I family in the district is invited and transportation is provided. There is entertainment, prizes and snacks for the children while parents attend a meeting to learn more about Title I programs and policies.
They meet Title I staff and learn about rights and responsibilities as a Title I parent. There is information about parenting classes and literacy workshops that they can attend. -
What is the Title I PAC?
Posted by:The Title 1 Parent Advisory Council is a group of parents that work to make Title 1 programs successful. All parents are invited to attend the Title I Parent Advisory Council meetings. Reminders are listed on the district calendar and in the Title I newsletters.

What is a Parent Involvement Policy?
Posted by:The Parent Involvement Policy outlines the framework for parent involvement at each building. Each school has a similar policy that explains how each school will involve Title I parents in their child’s education. The Parent Involvement Policy was developed with input from Title I parents and is reviewed and updated every year.
