Is your child turning 5 before August 31? If so, it's time to register for kindergarten! Kindergarten families will follow the same enrollment process as all other families, but here is a bit more information to help you.
The Brandywine School District offers full-day kindergarten at no cost at all elementary schools in the District. The kindergarten schedule follows the same schedule as elementary school, which is 8:35 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. Monday through Friday. Transportation is provided for eligible students, and students may eat breakfast and lunch at school. Families may apply for free/reduced lunch. Families interested in a half-day kindergarten program should register in their feeder school and complete contact Lavina Jones-Davis, Director of Elementary Education. Per Delaware law, a half-day program will be offered if a minimum of 18 students are enrolled.
Kindergarten pre-registration begins in January and continues through the first day of school. If you are applying for the School Choice Program, you must register in your feeder pattern school first.
All kindergarten students must have a physical by a licensed healthcare provider prior to beginning school, per Delaware State law. The physical must be performed within 24 months of starting kindergarten.
