Principal's Welcome Message
Hello Bulldog Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to another school year! It’s going to be great! This is one of my favorite times of the year. There are few things better than the return of hearing the marching band playing and the sight of our athletes practicing; particularly after the last year we have all had.
We have been working hard this summer to prepare for the upcoming year, and are excited to have your child as a student in just a couple of weeks. The first day of school for Freshmen and Seniors will be Monday, August 30th, and all students on Tuesday, August 31st.
It has been another busy summer and students will see a number of positive changes to BHS when they enter in September. Major building renovations include a new Cafeteria, the last phase of window replacement, and additional interior and exterior security cameras for student safety. We look forward to having students and programs use the Auditorium which was renovated pre-COVID. Student programming highlights this year will be the fall and spring drama productions, and band, and chorus concerts. As we approach this year it looks like fall sports and Bulldog Marching Band will be competing under our own stadium lights in about a month! New courses and sections have been added to complement the Computer Science pathway, and a fourth level of our growing biomedical pathway is now in place. Many of our teachers have spent the summer in professional development enhancing their current curriculums including the AVID programming. As our student population has increased again this year, we are continuing with a refined Freshman Focus team-model approach for our incoming freshman to support them in experiencing additional success.
Your child is probably eager to know their schedule. Ensure them that we are working hard on finalizing their schedules, and for them to focus on their summer assignments :). Please encourage your son or daughter to get involved in one of our many extra-curricular activities. Student connection to school is even more important as we return this year. Turnout for band, color guard, and fall sports has been strong, but it is not too late to join. We have dozens of other clubs to consider listed on our website. We also try to provide opportunities for parents to be involved. These include our PTO, class parent groups, and sport/band boosters. We encourage you to be proactive with communicating with your child’s teachers, and monitor your child’s daily attendance, grades, and curriculum on Home Access Center and on Schoology. Please save the date for our Open House on Wednesday, October 6th, 6:00pm.
Please connect with us on the official Brandywine High School Social Media platforms designed to better support effective communication about our school events. Please visit us on the following sites:
It is our honor and privilege to educate your child. We do not take this responsibility lightly. We look forward to partnering with you this year and will see you at one of our many BHS events. Enjoy the last days of summer!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
