Driver’s Education PLAN - Spring 2021
There remains a significant backlog of students who need to complete the driving portion of the driver’s education course. This backlog was the result of the pandemic school closure in spring 2020. As we did in the fall, we will be teaching driver’s education in a single large class of approximately 130 students that will meet five days per week for one month this spring. This class will begin on Monday March 1, 2021 . The class will operate in the way that the “behind-the-wheel” portion of the class has operated in the past in that students will be pulled out of their regular classes (according to the schedule below) to attend driver’s education class. These absences are excused and will be marked as a school activity. No student will be pulled from any specific class more than 2 times. This delayed start will allow our driver’s education teachers to continue clearing the current backlog of students who have already taken and passed the class, but who still need to drive. The delayed start of the classroom portion of the class for spring driver’s education students will not delay completion of the process to get a license for students taking the class this spring since they would not be able to drive until the current backlog of students who need to drive is cleared. Spring driver’s education students will continue to attend health in place of driver’s education on their daily schedule . Please note that as specified on the schedule below, the driver’s education class will meet from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. each Wednesday (the asynchronous day) for the duration of the course. Brandywine High School will be administering the PSAT to all tenth grade students on Wednesday March 17 and driver’s education class will not meet on that date. All students will attend remotely on Wednesdays. For students physically present in school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the class will meet in the Audion and all appropriate
COVID protocols will be observed. Final Exams : All hybrid and remote students will take the final examination in person on Wednesday 3/31. Students with last names from A to McKenna will be in Group #1 and the rest of the students will be in Group #2 (see below for exam times). Students will be required to come to Brandywine to take the final exam, and will be required to wear masks and to remain socially distant during their time at BHS. The testing area will be cleaned and sanitized between the two testing sessions.
