Mr. Louis Capano III, owner and developer of the former Brandywine Country Club property, has generously offered to donate 43.91 acres of the property to the Brandywine School District. The offer couldn't have come at a more opportune time as the District recently received 'special school status' for Bush, a classification that means the project will be 100% state-funded without the need for a local match through a capital referendum. Between the land donation and procuring full state funding, the residents of the Brandywine School District will receive a new, state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center without a capital referendum tax increase.
The drawing below shows the relative size of a school of the approximate square footage needed, as well as driveways and parking lots. The actual shape and location of these features will be determined by the architects and engineers once the land is formally donated to the District.
The District has no immediate plans for the back portion of the parcel. This section will be maintained as open space for the immediate future.
