Summer Fine Arts Camps

Registration for Fine Arts Camps is now OPEN.
BSD is proud to offer eight different summer visual and performing arts experiences. Please use the links to select the experiences your student is interested in for their appropriate grade level. Each experience is a four-day camp Monday-Thursday from 9AM -3PM, with different options throughout July. Summer Fine Arts run for three weeks in July, so students can choose one, two, or three different art and music experiences. Each week's experience costs $100. Breakfast and lunch is included. Please note: all camp locations are to be announced.
WEEK ONE: JULY 10-13 (9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily)
Intermediate Jazz Ensemble - Grade Levels: Rising 7-12 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Intermediate Jazz Ensemble will be a week-long course studying jazz history, styles, theory, technique, and literature. A section of this course will include the study of the art of improvisation, culminating in an end-of-the-week performance. Students will need to bring their band instruments. drum set, piano, and amps will be provided. Open to the first 30 applicants.

Beginning Fiddle Music - Grade Levels: Rising 4-5 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Beginning Fiddle Music is geared towards rising 5th and 6th graders with at least one year of experience in violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Students would spend each day learning fiddle basics, some theory and technique review, and learning new fiddle tunes. Participants would need an instrument to participate. Our week together will culminate in a short performance for families of some of the new music we’ve learned! Open to the first 25 applicants.

Steel Drums - Grade Levels: Rising 6-9 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Steel Drums. Originating in the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, the steel drums are a testament to the resourcefulness of its people. This class will show students what the pans can sound like and how versatile they can be - playing everything from folk music to classical to pop music. Open to the first 20 applicants.

Gotta Be Jazz: Elementary Musical This is a Two-Week Camp, July 10-13 + July 17-20. Please register for both weeks. $200 for this two-week camp - Grade Levels: Rising 1-5 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Gotta Be Jazz is a two-week camp geared toward students in grades K-5 (rising 1st through 6th graders). Students will learn basic acting, singing, playing, and improvisation skills for the two weeks to learn a musical about the history of jazz music to create special musical projects that align with the show. On the last day of camp, the students will perform the musical revue for family and friends! Open to the first 50 applicants.

Drawing: Basic Anatomy & Proportion - Grade Levels: Rising 5-9 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Drawing Basic Anatomy & Proportion is for serious study into many facets of art, including creature creation in multimedia, exploration of pastels and charcoal drawing in reverse, capturing music in line art mixed media, and methods of meditation through the Mandala. Open to the first 25 applicants.

Music & Art- Genres Through the Years - Grade Levels: Rising 3-6 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
In Music & Art- Genres Through the Years, students will study musical genres and the artists behind them. Each day will focus on a different genre, including Hip-Hop, Jazz, Romantic, and Rock n' Roll. Students will learn the musical aspects of each genre in the morning and create art to accompany it in the afternoon. Students will sing, dance, play games, and more! Students will have a short performance at the end of the week! Open to the first 25 applicants.

WEEK TWO: JULY 17-20 (9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily)
Painting - Grade Levels: Rising 5-9 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Painting is for the serious artist to explore five-layer mixed media, acrylic landscape painting gesso and watercolor, textural exploration, watercolor landscape & spray, stencil airbrush techniques, a lightning bug glow-in-the-dark piece, and exploration of non-traditional painting mediums. Open to the first 25 applicants.

WEEK THREE: JULY 24-27 (9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily)
Multimedia Art - Grade Levels: Rising 5-9 COUSE SLOTS STILL AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS
Multimedia art is a class for the serious artist to explore, mechanized mandala formation, upscale mono printing, collage meets paint and gesso, magical mini-sculptures of fairies and trolls, spray booth madness, almost airbrush, and the use of natural elements in stenciling and combined work. Open to the first 25 applicants.
