BSD's 2025 Vex Robotics Elementary Extravaganza!
The 2025 Elementary VEX Robotics Extravaganza recently brought together creative young minds from our elementary schools for an action-packed day of robotics competition! With dozens of teams squaring off in over 300 matches, our roboteers showcased their creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
Special guest Delaware Governor Matt Meyer delivered opening remarks and later emphasized the importance of STEM education and innovation...
“There’s a competition for talent, not just within Delaware, but around the world," stated Governor Meyer. "Those school districts that win are going to be the places that best prepare kids for this exciting technological future. Brandywine School District is doing it - they're turning fear of technology into power to truly make sure that Delaware is going to win long into the future.”

Coolest Robots Award:
The Coolest Robots Award recognized some of the most innovative designs in the competition—robots that stood out from the crowd with their unique mechanics and engineering breakthroughs:
Carrcroft Thundermens (10T) – A single-motor, dual-arm catapult on a lightweight frame. Featuring larger back wheels for speed and omni-wheels for agility, this robot excelled at hitting low goals with precision.
Lombardy Cheeto (70C) – A choo-choo shooter paired with a pancake flipper made this bot a standout. The active oil pump mechanism connected to the front sprocket was a unique and innovative touch.
DEstroyers BetaBot (130B) – A combination ramp bot designed to push balls into the lower goal while utilizing a catapult for high goals, demonstrating versatility and strategy.
STEM Award: Lombardy Team:
This year’s STEM Award was presented to the Lombardy Team, who demonstrated exceptional problem-solving and teamwork. After receiving a damaged robot from another school, they worked together during lunch to completely rebuild it, making strategic improvements along the way. Their dedication and adaptability exemplify the spirit of STEM learning both on and off the field.
The 2025 Elementary VEX Robotics Extravaganza was a thrilling showcase of talent, creativity, and teamwork. The future of STEM in the Brandywine School District is brighter than ever as students are being empowered to embrace technology and innovation, ensuring Delaware remains a leader in STEM education for years to come!
