BSD Family Opens Home & Heart

Every year, the Brandywine School District welcomes three new interns from Spanish-speaking countries to help teach and inspire our Spanish Immersion students at Claymont Elementary, Maple Lane Elementary, and Lancashire Elementary. These interns bring rich cultural experiences, language immersion, and new perspectives to our classrooms, making a lasting impact on students and the community.

This year, we’re spotlighting one of our wonderful host families, the Burdeshaws, who have opened their home and hearts to one of our Spanish Immersion Interns from Colombia. With two children in the Spanish Immersion program at Lancashire Elementary, hosting has been more than just providing a place to stay—it’s been about cultural exchange, lasting friendships, and learning together for the entire family! From shared meals to language practice and unforgettable memories, their experience showcases the heart of our BSD Spanish Immersion family.
