Nail-biting Finishes at this Year's EBL Championships

Nail-biting Finishes at this Year's EBL Championships

What began in 2008 as a simple idea to give Mount Pleasant Elementary students a chance to play basketball in their gym during recess as an academic and behavior incentive has evolved into one of the most cherished after-school programs in our elementary schools. Since last December, boys and girls teams from all nine of our primary schools have been hitting the court each week, showcasing their skills and teamwork for a chance to play in the coveted EBL Championships.

This year’s championship games did not disappoint! The boys’ teams from Harlan and MPE, and the girls’ teams from Carrcroft and Hanby, faced off in two heart-stopping matchups that came down to the final minutes of play. With a packed house at host gym Brandywine High School, the atmosphere was electric as cheerleading squads from all four teams wowed the crowd with beautifully choreographed routines and spirited sideline cheers that shook the bleachers.

Congratulations to this year’s champions—the Harlan Hawks and Hanby Bees!
