Community Partner Award

The Brandywine School District Community Partner Awards celebrate the organizations, businesses, and individuals who commit to our students, staff, and schools above and beyond. Each honoree embodies the spirit of collaboration, service, and shared responsibility that strengthens our community and enhances every child's educational experience.

These partnerships make a lasting difference, from sponsoring programs and volunteering time to creating opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. Whether through mentoring, donations, or community service, our partners help us fulfill our mission of ensuring that every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are proud to recognize these outstanding partners for their dedication, generosity, and continued support of the Brandywine School District. Together, we are building Strong Schools and a Strong Community.

Good2U & Good4U Healthy Vending

Community Partner Award - April 2026 - Good2U & Good4U Healthy Vending
At our April 2026 Board of Education Meeting, the Brandywine School District proudly recognized Good2U & Good4U Healthy Vending, owned by Javetta and Lavel Walker, with a BSD Community  Partner Award . The Walkers have established a strong partnership with all three BSD high school BRIDGES Programs, which support students with complex learning needs, including those with Autism and other cognitive or communication challenges. These programs provide structured environments with targeted support in communication, social skills, and daily living.

Since October 2025, Good2U & Good4U Healthy Vending has worked directly with students to deliver meaningful, hands-on job training through the operation and maintenance of vending machines in each high school. Students engage in real-world tasks such as monitoring inventory, restocking products, adjusting pricing, cleaning equipment, and managing cash systems. This partnership provides authentic workplace experience that builds transferable job skills, reinforces essential soft skills, and aligns with district transition goals and Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) priorities.

Through their commitment and collaboration, the Walkers are helping prepare BSD students for success beyond high school while creating inclusive, real-world learning opportunities within our schools.

Talleyville Fire Co receiving BSD Community Partner Award
From visiting our youngest learners at the Brandywine Early Education Program to leading Forwood Elementary’s Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics Delaware, Talleyville’s firefighters consistently go above and beyond to educate, inspire, and give back.

Most recently, members joined Springer Middle School for a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, completing 110 ascents and descents in tribute to the FDNY heroes who gave their lives, a powerful reminder of courage, unity, and service.

Through their compassion and commitment, the Talleyville Fire Company truly embodies the community spirit that defines #Proud2bBSD and strengthens the Brandywine School District. #StrongSchoolsStrongCommunity

March 2025 - Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids

Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids

For over 15 years, Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids' Education Cultivation school garden program with the Brandywine School District has made a remarkable impact at Mount Pleasant Elementary, Forwood Elementary, Lombardy Elementary, Hanby Elementary, Carrcroft Elementary, and Springer Middle School.

Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids provides innovative, hands-on lessons tailored specifically to each grade, offering our students the invaluable opportunity to learn science by actively growing, harvesting, and tasting the very vegetables they've nurtured themselves. This experiential learning model not only deepens their understanding of science but also fosters healthy eating habits and environmental stewardship.
What sets Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids apart is that it is the only program of its kind in Delaware, uniquely engaging every student, across every grade in our participating schools. The alignment of their lessons with grade-specific science curricula enriches our students' educational experiences in meaningful, practical ways.
We sincerely thank Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids for their dedication, innovation, and significant contributions to our district's students and school communities.
