Community Eligible Provision (CEP) Schools
We have exciting news- 16 of our schools are CEP schools! Students in the following schools are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch meals: PS Dupont, Carrcroft, Claymont, Harlan, Maple Lane, Mt Pleasant Elementary, ECAP, the SITE program, BUSH, Darley, Forwood, Lombardy, Springer, Talley, Brandywine High, and Mt. Pleasant High.
Meal benefit forms do not have to be completed by parents whose children attend these schools.
School Meal Costs
ALL breakfast meals are provided at no cost as a result of new 2025 legislation!
Lunch prices are below for Concord High School, Lancashire, and Hanby ONLY.
- Meal prices will remain $1.50 for lunch for elementary school full-priced students.
- At the secondary level, meal prices will remain $1.75 for lunch for middle and high school full-priced students.
Students at these schools who qualify for reduced priced meals will receive their meals for free thanks to 2024 state legislature. These legislative changes are an exciting step in the direction of Universal Meals for All in Delaware.
Meal Benefit Form
Within our district, some of our schools automatically qualify for meals at no cost – while other schools will require an application to be completed.
Families who have students attending the following schools WILL need to fill out a meal benefit application to qualify for free or reduced meal prices.
- Hanby and Lancashire Elementary Schools;
- Concord High School
*Please note: reduced meals are now free thanks to new Delaware state legislation and all breakfast meals are now free. Full-price costs are listed below.

Meanwhile, families who have students attending the following schools will NOT need to fill out a meal benefit application as these schools automatically receive meals at no cost.

Families can elect to fill out the Free and Reduced Meal Benefit Application to learn more about grants, program funding, athletic waivers, and textbook assistance – but that is your choice. If you do not wish to fill out an application – that’s not a problem – the free meals are automatic.
The application process is both easy and convenient for families. Our School Nutrition Office is also available should you have any questions about the Free and Reduced Meal Benefit Applications.
Our goal is to make sure all of our BSD families fill out their applications as soon as possible to ensure meal benefits are in place for the first day of school. Again, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Only complete one application per family. The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits.
Pre-Payment Options
Please take advantage of the options to prepay your student's meal accounts. Prepaid meal accounts help the lunch lines go faster and gives students more time to eat, relax, and play. It also gives you the peace of mind of not having to worry about looking for lunch money every day or worry that it might get lost, stolen or used for other things other than lunch.
Factors considered in the application process are household size and total household income. HOUSEHOLD SIZE is considered all persons, related or unrelated: Including parents, children, and grandparents who live in your home and share living expenses. The TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME is the income each household member received last month before taxes - this includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony, and any other cash income.
Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits. An application is not needed yet there does need to be documentation of status by a state or local entity familiar with the child's status. Foster children may be included in the household application as part of the household size.
Send Check or Cash
You can always bring money personally or send it with your student. Please place it in an envelope marked clearly with your student's name, their ID number, their teacher's name, and the check # (if using a check). Turn in deposits to the cafeteria cashier(s) or school office.
If you would like to pay with a check, please make checks payable to BSD School Nutrition.
There is no cap on how much you can deposit, and you won't be charged a fee for paying via cash or check.

Online payments are a simple, safe, and secure way to make payments to your student's account 24 hours a day at your convenience. Brandywine School District offers families an online system called LINQ Connect.
Please know that Linq Connect does charge a processing fee for all online transactions. This fee was increased in April 2024 to now be $2.85 for payments below $74 and a 3.85% fee for deposits over $74 if using a debit or credit card. ACH payments (bank deposits) have a flat $1.85 processing fee.

Returned Checks
We know that life can get in the way and sometimes checks are returned. In the event of a returned check due to insufficient funds a letter will be mailed to parents. Parents will need to repay the School Nutrition Department for the amount of the check plus a return processing fee of $5 within 20 days of parent notification. If payment is not received within 20 days, the School Nutrition Department will negatively adjust the child's lunch account for the amount of the check plus the $5 processing fee.
