Welcome to Music with Mrs. Polman!
General Music Classes
All students, K-5, participate in general music classes each week. These classes focus on teaching the Delaware State Standards for Music Education through engaging and interactive lessons. Each grade level, K-3, will present a musical performance in the spring. In addition, 3rd- 5th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in a talent show in the spring.
Chorus is an enrichment class available to 4th and 5th grade students. Chorus classes meet twice per week and focus on teaching healthy singing technique as we participate in singing a wide variety of musical styles.
Why Music Education?
While most people enjoy music and music education, many do not understand the great benefits and importance that a quality music program holds.
Not only does music provide an enjoyable outlet, but it actually plays a significant role in the mental, physical, and social development of a child. It encompasses many of the core disciplines including math, reading, writing, science, history, and sociology. In addition, making music is integral in developing both a child’s gross and fine motor skills. Socially, musical experiences allow opportunities for students to develop team work, personal expression, and appreciation for others’ work.
As is apparent, a child’s musical education is a vital part of his or her overall development. If you would like further information concerning how to maximize your child’s developmental years through music education, Mrs. Polman will be happy to assist you.
