• Principal's Message

    Greetings Harlan Family,

My name is Hekima Wicker. I am the proud principal of Harlan Elementary School. This is my 21st year in Brandywine School District. I am very excited about my return to Harlan Elementary. I previously served as the Dean of Students at Harlan Elementary from 2005 through 2010. Harlan Elementary has always been a very special place with a standard of excellence. It is my intent to continue this tradition of excellence. I return to Harlan Elementary with various leadership experiences within the Brandywine School District. I have taught grades 2-6. I served as 3rd grade team leader at Darley Road Elementary. I also served as BEA teacher union building liaison. For four years, I was a district K-3 Criss/Marzano trainer and State Assessment liaison for DSTP. For the last 5 years, I served as Dean of Students/Assistant Principal for Mount Pleasant Elementary School. Within the Harlan Community, I have collaborated with various youth ministries, civic associations, and city youth based programs. On a personal level, I am a married father of three.

I envision Harlan Elementary as a place where all students learn and demonstrate continued student growth/improvement. I desire for all of our children to reach their personal best for academic, social, and age-developmental excellence. With your help and partnership, we can collectively achieve these goals.

I invite you to partner with us to bring the best out of all our students. We look forward to working with you throughout the school. I also invite you to contact the school to arrange a tour or visit. I encourage you to see the wonderful things that occur at our school each and every day.
