Byron Murphy, Assistant Principal
Byron Murphy is a 1983 graduate of Brandywine High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Masters in Math Education. Mr. Murphy has worked in Delaware public schools for over 25 years and was selected as Delaware’s Principal of the Year in 2012. He is married with two children John (age 16 – a sophomore at Brandywine) and Kayla (age 12). Mr. Murphy is thrilled to be back home at Brandywine.
Kenneth Rivera, Assistant Principal
Kenneth Rivera has been a Bulldog since 2006 serving as a Social Studies Teacher, Lead Teacher / Instructional Coach, and Assistant Principal. He was named the 2017 Delaware Social Studies Teacher of the Year by the History Education Department at the University of Delaware. He was an elected member of the Red Clay School District Board of Education, having served as President and Vice President. He was appointed by the Governor as a Vice Chairman to the Wilmington Education Improvement Committee. He holds an undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Delaware. He is married with 5 children.
Dionie Lum, Dean of Students
Dionie has been an employee of the BSD for the last 20 years. He is a proud husband and father of three children who have graduated from high schools within our district. During this time he has witnessed so many great achievements amongst students and families throughout our district and community. Also being an alumni of BHS gives him great pleasure of being able to come back in a supportive role as Dean. Brandywine high school is an amazing place for any student to be noticed.
