School Counseling Office
August 10, 2020
Dear Students and Families:
The School Counseling Department of Brandywine High School is excited to welcome you for the 2021 school year with two new School Counselors and a restructured department in an effort to best support the students, staff, and other stakeholders. The American School Counselor Association guides the planning and delivery of student activities and interventions under the domains of academic, career, and social/emotional. School Counselors are responsible for providing direct and indirect services to students within those areas and the plan to restructure includes a division of responsibilities that will allow for more direct services to students and a greater use of time spent with students and families to build relationships and see that students reach their potential. The breakdown is below:
- Kreig Joseph – School Counselor for Last Names A-K: Mr. Joseph will focus on the academic and social/emotional needs of students to provide individual counseling, large group guidance, small group counseling, and 504 case management to half of the BHS students and families. Mr. Joseph will be located in the Counseling Office and can be reached via email and phone at Kreig.Joseph@bsd.k12.de.us or 302-479-1609 x5020
- Renee Kershaw – School Counselor for Last Names L-Z: Mrs. Kershaw will focus on the academic and social/emotional domains to provide individual counseling, large group guidance, small group counseling, and 504 case management to half of the BHS students and families. Mrs. Kershaw will be located in the Counseling Office and can be reached via email and phone at Renee.Kershaw@bsd.k12.de.us or 302-479-1609 x5019
- Susan Hullman – College and Career Counselor: Mrs. Hullman will focus on college/career domain to ensure that all students have a postsecondary plan upon graduation as well as access and opportunities for various programs, scholarships, apprenticeships, and training programs. Mrs. Hullman will support all BHS students with direct services for planning, monitoring or progress toward graduation, and hosting evening events for students and families around the post-high school planning steps and processes. She will be located in the College and Career Center (C3) and can be reached at Susan.Hullman@bsd.k12.de.us or 302-479-1600 x1000
- Lisa Street – Department Chair of School Counseling: Mrs. Street will provide training, leadership, and data-driven direction to the department as well as indirect services to all BHS students, staff, and stakeholders. Mrs. Street will serve on building, district, and state-level teams and committees; will provide evaluative data, and will implement initiatives including evening programming and school-wide College Board testing. Mrs. Street will be located in the Counseling Office and can be reached via email and phone at Lisa.Street@bsd.k12.de.us or 302-479-1609 x5021
We are excited about this restructure and have the support of the BHS Administration, so we look forward to working with you in new and more meaningful ways!
