Wilmington, DE, April 5, 2011:  At the recent annual conference for the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Engineering and Technology Education Program at P.S. duPont Middle School, was recognized as one of only ten middle school programs worldwide to earn the prestigious PROGRAM EXCELLENCE AWARD.

Sponsored by the International Technology Education Association (ITEA) and the Paxton/Patterson Company, the Program Excellence Award is one of the highest honors given to Engineering and Technology Education classroom teachers on the elementary, middle or high school levels.  It is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the profession and students.  Schools from all over the United States and around the world compete for this honor.

Each year the Program Excellence winners are recognized at the largest conference for Engineering and Technology Educators in the world.  This year the program at P.S. duPont STEM Learning Center was recognized at the first General session of the conference where the award plaques and pins were presented to Lew Cheatwood, Principal, John Singer and Brooks Twilley, STEM teachers.  Not in attendance was teacher Tony Ruzowicz.
