2 Springer students win Polly Bill Scholarships
Since 2007, Springer Middle School and the Bill family have given scholarships in honor of Mrs. Polly Bill, who taught Language Arts at Springer for many years. When she passed away, her family decided to offer a scholarship in her memory for students who best embody the qualities that Mrs. Polly Bill admired in her students: academic excellence, perseverance, maturity, a love for reading, and a positive attitude. Those students would receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used for college or post-high school training. After receiving nominations, the Springer staff voted for the two students who best represent the qualities that Mrs. Bill admired and encouraged. We are pleased to announce that the recipients of the Polly Bill Memorial Scholarship are 8th graders Elizabeth Spence and Dawane Stewart, who are pictured in Springer's lobby with their principal, Dr. Tracy Woodson. Congratulations to Elizabeth and Dawane, and many thanks to the Bill family for their continued generosity and support of education.
