Activities & Athletics

Activities

At BSD we believe that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door.  We offer a wide variety of activities and clubs to engage every student.  Each school has after school offerings that give kids the chance to continue learning, making friends and having fun.  Visit your child’s school webpage for more information about the clubs and activities offered to your student.

Each school offers clubs that provides kids a chance to learn a new skill, make new friends or to shine in a performance. After school clubs vary per school and range in subject matter from Robotics to Ultimate Frisbee.  Some clubs offer students a chance to represent their school in state and national competitions. Others encourage kids to become leaders and govern their student body. All provide the opportunity to shine and grow both socially and academically.

Visit your child’s school webpage to learn more about the clubs offered.

Athletics

BSD offers a robust athletic program for kids from elementary through high school.  From intramural flag football to DIAA sanctioned sports programs, there are opportunities for kids to learn how to play a sport and be a team member at BSD.

Elementary Schools
In addition to regular Physical Education classes, kids in grades 4 and 5 can play sports after school.  Offerings vary by school, but may include flag football, soccer, tennis, and golf. These teams play within the school in a low key, fun program.  There is also an elementary boys and girls basketball league that allows school teams to play each other on the weekends. The winners compete in a final tournament to determine the district winner. For information on specific school programs, check out your child’s school webpage.

Middle Schools
Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) sanctioned sport programs begin in middle school.  There, kids can try out for a variety of sports that play in fall, winter, and spring.  Each middle school has set up an athletics website where you can learn more about their programs.

High Schools
School sports are a vital part of every student’s high school experience. Whether they try out for a team or enjoy attending a game with their friends.  All of our high schools offer NCAA compliant sports programs with varsity, junior varsity, and some developmental teams. Each high school has separate websites to support their sports programs. Follow the links to learn more about each school’s program.
